Workflow Planning allows you to see a visual timeline for a process flow, as seen in the gantt chart below.
This type of workflow is set up by your local Winmore Administrator and may not be implemented on all workflows. If you currently have a workflow for which you think this would be beneficial, please speak to your company Winmore Administrator.
Opening the Timeline Visualization
Once a workflow is launched, there are a few differences for Workflows that have Workflow Planning enabled. For example, you will also see a new button in the upper right hand corner of the middle panel. This is the Timeline Button.
Upon clicking the Timeline button, you will come to the Timeline visual.
You’ll see that there is additional functionality to task groupings in that they can be collapsed and expanded depending on how you’d like to view them in the Timeline.
You’ll also see Blue Arrows extending from one task to the next. These indicate dependencies and tasks that will need to be completed before the next task can commence.
Updating the Timeline
We recognize, that while processes have average or desired durations, many individual projects have nuances and require flexibility in the timeline. Therefore, Winmore is built to allow you to adjust the timeline in a few different ways.
One way to update the timeline is to adjust a task and have all subsequent tasks adjust accordingly.
The second option is to adjust a task while NOT adjusting all subsequent tasks.
Please review the linked articles above depending on how you wish to update the timeline.
The Timeline visual can be modified depending on how you’d like to view the data. To access the Timeline Settings, you will click the gear button found on the Timeline page.
Options: Time Increments, Bar Labels, Chart Labels and Chart Elements
The first set of menu options relates to the timeline axis increments, allowing you to view the Timeline in Days, Weeks, Months, Quarters or Zoomed to Fit. The second set of options allows you to change the display on the bars. You can set them to show or hide the Task Name, Start Dates and/or Due Dates. The third set of options allows you to update the columns found to the left of the Timeline. Here you can choose to view or hide the Task Name, the Start Date and the Due Date for each task. The final set allows you to adjust the color of the task bars for tasks that are completed, to differentiate them from tasks that are still open.
Once you’ve selected all of your Timeline Settings, click Save to view the timeline. In the below example, I’ve set my timeline to display increments based on “Zoom to Fit”; I’ve removed the dates from the task bars, and chosen to display them in columns instead.
If your Timeline contains Groups, you will be able to collapse and expand these as well. They were expanded in the above screenshot and they are collapsed in the below screenshot.
